Dedicated hunters

Obtaining your permits

Everyone who joins the Dedicated Hunter program looks forward to obtaining their deer permits. So how do you get yours?

If you joined the program in 2010 or 2011
  • Year 1: You must perform a minimum of 16 service hours on conservation projects and complete the online wildlife conservation and ethics course.
  • Year 2: You must perform a minimum of 16 service hours, for a total of 32 service hours (year 1 + year 2).
  • Year 3: You must perform a minimum of 8 service hours, for a total of 40 service hours (year 1 + year 2 + year 3).

Residents may purchase no more than 30 of the 40 required service hours, and nonresidents may purchase all 40 hours.

If you join the program in 2012
  • Year 1: You must perform a minimum of 8 service hours on conservation projects and complete the online wildlife conservation and ethics course.
  • Year 2: You must perform a minimum of 16 service hours, for a total of 24 service hours (year 1 + year 2).
  • Year 3: You must perform a minimum of 8 service hours, for a total of 32 service hours (year 1 + year 2 + year 3).

Residents may purchase no more than 24 of the 32 required service hours, and nonresidents may purchase all 32 hours.

IMPORTANT: You must have a current, unexpired hunting or combination license in order to apply for the Dedicated Hunter Program during the 2012 big game application period.

As you participate in the Dedicated Hunter Program, you are responsible for checking your progress on the above requirements and verifying that your information is correct.
