Important dates and reminders
All dates are subject to change
If you have not yet received your 2009 permit, you can pick it up at any regional office after completing the requirements.
2009 dates
August 15: The archery season begins. From Aug. 15 through Sept. 1, all archery hunters must hunt in the region identified on their permits. Then, from Sept. 2 through Sept. 11, all archery hunters may hunt statewide.
September 23: The muzzleloader season begins.
October 1: If you are a third-year participant, this is your deadline to complete program requirements (if you want to qualify for a loyalty point for the 2010 enrollment period). Loyalty points will be issued automatically to qualified participants and are only valid through the end of the following application period. In other words, if you receive a loyalty point in 2009, it will expire January 18, 2010.
October 17: The any-legal-weapon season begins.
December TBD: The Dedicated Hunter Orientation Course will be available. This course is mandatory for anyone who plans to apply for the Dedicated Hunter Program.
2010 dates
January 4: The Dedicated Hunter Program application period opens at 7 a.m. (Before you can apply, you must first successfully complete the Dedicated Hunter Orientation Course.)
January 19: The Dedicated Hunter Program application period closes at 11 p.m.
January 28: Dedicated Hunter Program drawing results will be available.
January 28: This is the deadline for returning an unused 2009 Dedicated Hunter permit (if you want to be eligible for the Dedicated Hunter limited-entry drawing). For more information, see the Dedicated Hunter Rule R657-38-14.
January 28: This is the deadline for changing your hunt region for the 2010 season.
