Description
The Antelope Creek Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is in the southeast part of Duchesne County, about 10.5 km from Duchesne, Utah. Higher elevations are in the southwest corner of the unit (6300 feet). Antelope Creek that cuts the CWMU ranges from 5300 feet to 5800 feet. Pleasant Valley in the east ranges from 5300 feet to 5800 feet. The most common elevation is 5500 feet but ranges from 5300 feet to 6300 feet with an elevation difference of 1000 feet. Fifty (50%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 5600 feet and 6100 feet an elevation difference of 500 feet.

About thirty-six perecent (36%) of the Antelope Creek Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is Colorado Plateau Mixed Low Sagebrush Shrubland, located on the westside of the unit. Another thirty-four percent (34%) is Inter-Mountain Basins Mixed Salt Desert Scrub, located mostly on the eastside of the unit. Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland, Inter-Mountain Basins Greasewood Flat, and Inter-Mountain Basins Semi-Desert Grassland also figure into the mix.

One of the Antelope Creek Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, DUCHESNE (422253), is about 6.0 km west from the west edge of the CWMU. DUCHESNE has eighty-three (92) years of records, 1906 - 2008. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 2.57inches, but it can be as high as 6.21 inches or as low as 0.25 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 14 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 8 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 1 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. Total FALL snowfall averages 3.1 inches but can be as high as 17.1 inches. FALL temperature at DUCHESNE averages 46.4 degrees F. but can be as high as 93.0 degrees F. or as low as -17.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 49 days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and less than 1 day above 90 degrees F.
