Description
The Allen Ranch Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is located on the south end of Cedar Valley and northwest of the Tinic Mountains.

The terrain is relatively flat with a relief difference of only about 500 feet (4900 feet to 5400 feet). The lowest elevation is in a north with highest in the south. The most common elevation is 5000 feet but ranges from 5000 feet to 5400 feet with an elevation difference of 400 feet. Fifty-one percent (51%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 5000 feet and 5200 feet an elevation difference of 200 feet.

Agriculture (114) is the primary land cover type for the Allen Ranch Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU). Add Invasive Annual Grassland (121) and Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48) and about seventy percent of the land is covered. Add Inter- Mountain Basins Mixed Salt Desert Scrub (58), Invasive Annual and Biennial Forbland (122), and Developed, Open Space - Low Intensity (111) and near ninety percent (90%) of the land is covered.

One of the Allen's Ranch Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, ELBERTA (422418), is about 1.4 km to the southeast. ELBERTA has ninety (90) years of records, 1902 - 1092. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 2.64 inches, but it can be as high as 7.49 inches or as low as 0.51 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 15 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 8 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 1 day of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. Total snowfall averages 3.2 inches but can be as high as 15.0 inches. FALL temperature at ELBERTA averages 51.0 degrees F. but can be as high as 100.0 degrees F. or as low as -8.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 37days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and 4 days above 90 degrees F.
