Kids' fishing workshop in Vernal

Wednesday, May 14, 2014
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will hold two fishing workshops for 20 lucky kids, age 6 to 11, starting May 14. The first class will run from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the second will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There's room for ten kids in each class.

May 14, 15 and 16, young aspiring anglers will meet in the classroom at the Uintah Recreation District (610 South Vernal Avenue, Vernal, UT 84078) to learn about knot-tying, casting, fish biology and fisheries management in the state.

On May 21, the groups will head to the wet lab for fish dissection. On the 22nd, the groups will tour the Whiterocks Fish Hatchery, then head out to the water to catch fish on the 23rd and 24th (likely at Little Montes Creek and Matt Warner. We'll go where we think we have the best chance of catching fish).

The cost for the class is $15 per child. Parents are welcome to sit in! There are only ten spots per class, so call the Uintah Recreation District at 435-781-0982 to sign up today. If you have questions, get in touch with the Northeastern Region office at 435-781-9453.
