Green River Bighorn Sheep Watch

Saturday, December 07, 2013, 08:00am
On December 7, 2013, the Division of Wildlife Resources will sponsor a bighorn sheep watch along the Green River corridor. The event is free to the public. There is no pre-registration. Sheep watchers are encouraged to bring a pair of binoculars, spotting scope and camera.

The group will meet at 8 a.m. See the news release for more information!

Update: After an aerial survey along the Green River, it appears there aren't many bighorn sheep in the area. In previous years, we've seen 40-80 animals during this watchable wildlife event, but this year, unfortunately, it could be significantly less. It appears that most sheep are staying high because of fall rain and green-up at high elevations, absence of human disturbance or hunting, and cold that has settled into the canyon of the Green River. We just wanted to give a head's up to those planning to attend the event. There is a possibility that you won't see any sheep.
