Dyer’s Woad is listed as a SL County invasive weed and has established itself in large populations within the lower reaches of City Creek Canyon. Hearty volunteers are needed to hike in steep terrain and: a. Cut seed heads off the plant b. Bag seed heads, leave bags along canyon road for collection

Volunteers will need long pants, gloves, water, sturdy shoes and a readiness to hike in steep, uneven terrain.

City Creek is heavily utilized by mule deer and elk as winter habitat and is a popular destination for archers hunting the late portion of the Wasatch Extended Archery period. Not only will this weed mitigation contribute to long term attempt at controlling the negative impact of dyer's woad on habitat, it will also contribute towards keeping SLC's culinary sourcewater areas resilient.
