Julia Dixon

Julia Dixon has worked as media relations coordinator for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries since August 1998. In that capacity she is responsible for developing strategic media relations plans, initiating media contacts and responding to media inquires from local, state, regional, national, and sometimes international news outlets. In addition, she has conducted media relations training for her coworkers, many of whom never dreamed they'd be thrust in the limelight by their work in fisheries and wildlife. Julia has worked in government public relations positions since 1989. Prior to that she worked for a monthly magazine and a group of weekly newspapers. In 1995, she earned the professional designation Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) from the International Association of Business Communicators. Julia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art with a minor in English from St. Andrews College in North Carolina in 1984, and Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Virginia Commonwealth University 1988.
